Some excellent news just became official last week: the agreement for the future Peter-McGill community and cultural centre has been signed! Here is a short excerpt from the press release from the city (translated from French by the Peter-McGill Community Council):
“The Ville-Marie Borough Council […] approved the project agreement to allow the city to usufruct a space that will welcome the future community centre on the former Montreal Children’s Hospital site, at the corner of René-Levesque Blvd and Sussex St. […] Conveniently located next to Atwater metro and Cabot Square, the centre will be easily accessible by public and active transit. With a surface area of 5,800 m², the centre will be constructed on two floors, and will be a meeting point for the community. We will be proposing accessible activities for all and innovative services adapted to different customers uses.” See the whole release here (in French only).
We are very happy about this news and are looking forward to having our first community centre built. We will have to wait until 2022, but in the meantime the Peter-McGill Community Council will be taking steps to be actively involved in programming the centre’s activities.
