Who was Peter McGill?

Peter McGill

Peter McGill (1789, Scotland – 1860, Montreal), businessman and politician, mayor of Montreal from 1840 to 1842, gives his name to the district. He is not to be confused with James McGill, founder of McGill University.

Six weeks of consultations will be taking place starting in September around the idea to turn McGill College Avenue into a pedestrian plaza. We will let you know when the dates are confirmed.   • Accessing Mont-Royal

The Office de Consultation Publique de Montréal (OCPM) has been mandated to hold a public consultation on accessing Mont-Royal, in the context of the Montreal pilot project that would stop vehicle traffic on Camilien-Houde and Remembrance streets. A consultation will take place on November 8th, as well as a public hearing on November 28th. Both will take place at the OCPM office (1550 Metcalfe Street, 14th Floor).
