Autrefois un fort où étaient établis les Amérindiens convertis à la foi chrétienne, ce site fut choisi en 1854 pour la construction du Grand Séminaire devant servir à la formation des futurs prêtres, un mandat confié aux Sulpiciens par Monseigneur Bourget. Deux des quatre tours du premier fort construit en 1694 par les Sulpiciens sont toujours là. La propriété appartient toujours aux Sulpiciens.
Once a fort where the converted Indians were housed, this site was chosen in 1854 for the construction of the Seminary were the clerks and priests would be trained, a mandate given to Sulpicians by Bishop Bourget. Two of the four towers of the original fort built in 1694 by the Sulpicians remain. The property still belongs to the Sulpicians.
