Information to residents: Closure of de la Montagne Street from April 29

Quartier des gares project – Total closure of de la Montagne street between René-Lévesque Blvd West and Saint-Antoine West

As part of the implementation of the Special Planning Program for the Quartier des gares, the City of Montreal’s Service des infrastructures, de la voirie et des transports (infrastructure, roadway and  transport department) has informed residents that roadwork will be under taken at the corner of de la Montagne and avenue des Canadiens. The work is scheduled to start April 29, 2019 and last about two weeks.

  • Surface improvement work
  • Redesign of pedestrian crosswalks

  • From April 29 to May 10, 2019*
  • Work will take place Mondays to Fridays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., although some of it could extend beyond these hours, e.g. evenings or weekends.

* Dates and durations subject to change. Dates and times may be modified in case of adverse weather conditions or operational constraints.

During the entire work period, de la Montagne will be completely closed between René-Lévesque Blvd. West and Saint-Antoine West (See plan attached). Note that access for local traffic, tradespeople and emergency vehicles will remain open on de la Montagne.
Also, pedestrians will be allowed to continue using the sidewalk on de la Montagne.
All residents are urged to comply with the newly installed signage, to slow down wherever necessary and to observe no-parking signs.

We are aware of the inconvenience that this work may entail, and we will take action to minimize its impacts. For example, several measures will be instituted to safeguard peace of mind and air quality for the area’s residents. Specifically, it is unlikely that night work will be done and a dust cover will be used if required.
