VIDEO: Primary school mobilisation
We were recently contacted by the Fédération Québécoise des Commission Scolaires to participate in a video as part of a series that explains the role of School Commissioners in Quebec. Our Project Manager, Matthieu Pajot, as well as local parent Graham Singh and his son Hector were interviewed about family mobilisation around the lack of public schools in Peter-McGill.
Civic Engagement Workshop for Youth
On September 25th, 12 young people participated in #ENGAGEDYOUTH, an activity organised by CIVIX Québec and Innovation Youth on civic engagement. Several themes were discussed, including, government structures, voting and community engagement. In addition, participants were asked to talk about issues that they felt were personally meaningful, including urban planning in their neighbourhood. The next step will be a youth letter writing campaign aimed at elected representatives, so that youth can make their voice heard!
Upcoming Consultations and related activities
Following the information session on October 4th regarding the redevelopment of McGill College Avenue to turn it into a public space, the Office de Consultation Publique de Montréal (OCPM) is organising activities from October 16-18 directly on the street! On site, you’ll find a pop-up village with a giant model where you’ll be invited to express your ideas and desires for the future public square! The pop-up village will be open each day at lunch hour, and again from 5-7pm.
