About the VBM
The Volunteer Bureau of Montreal (VBM) promotes volunteerism among the Montreal population and supports its members by offering a range of services adapted to their needs, such as recruitment of volunteers, training programs, support services and a referral centre. It also supports Meals-on-Wheels and Community Meal services affiliated with its network. It acts as a link between a Meals-on-Wheels network, the health community and its beneficiaries, as well as Montreal’s volunteer food services. Volunteering plays an essential role in the well-being of society. Our efforts aim to improve our society, one volunteer at a time.
Job description
Dynamic, motivated by the management of information and data via our website, focused on human relations, the Volunteer Services Coordinator will play a central role in the coordination of volunteer services offered by the VBM. Reporting to the Executive Director, he/she will be responsible for the day-to-day management of volunteer services, guiding, supporting and managing the VBM’s internal volunteers, promoting the development of volunteer services and ensuring representation with community partners. He/she will join a committed, agile and collaborative team.
More specifically, he or she will have the following functions:
Day-to-day management of volunteer services:
- Ensure the quality and consistency of the services offered by the VBM through data management on the website:
– Ensure the management of volunteer offers
– Ensure the follow-up of matches via our website and via the placement counselling service
– Ensure the production of statistical follow-ups - Ensure the coordination of the volunteer placement counselling services and reception
- Provide consulting services to volunteer managers: creation of offers, recruitment strategy, recognition strategy and links to the training department
- Promote linkages with skills-based volunteering
Management and recruitment of volunteers within the VBM:
- Ensure the recruitment, training, integration, supervision and coaching of internal volunteers
- Regularly update all policies/tools for the management of internal volunteers
- Organize recognition activities for internal volunteers
- Mobilize the team to recognize internal volunteers
Development of volunteer services:
- Ensure the organization of activities to celebrate National Volunteer Week, International Volunteer Day and International Volunteer Managers Day
- Contribute to the improvement and development of volunteer services in line with the VBM’s action plan
- Work as a team to promote the linkage between the various volunteer services
Promotion
- Contribute to the VBM’s newsletters, social networks and website
Representations
- Represent the VBM with organizations, consultations and community partners
Profile sought
- College or university undergraduate education in social sciences or other relevant field
- 3 years relevant experience
– Demonstrated experience in coaching and supporting volunteers;
– Demonstrated experience in managing volunteer services;
– Demonstrated experience in training, organizing activities, etc. - Good knowledge of the non-profit community and social field;
- Strong interest in data management related to the website;
- Excellent skills in writing, synthesis, written and oral communication;
- Bilingualism or very good knowledge of English and French;
- Ability to work in a team, to adapt to a changing work environment, to handle several files simultaneously and to be proactive;
- Strong sense of responsibility, initiative and development;
- Ease in use of office automation and electronic communication software;
- Availability to work occasionally in the evenings and on weekends;
- Occasional travel on the territory of the VBM.

- Hourly wage: $26.14/hour
