Get informed and involved for a better neighbourhood!
Becoming a member is a great way help affect change in the district where you live, study and work. Members are at the heart of the Peter-McGill Community Council, and are integral in deciding which issues should be prioritized, as well as identifying possible solutions. While everyone has different needs and desires, membership provides an avenue for open dialogue and collaboration. Plus, Membership is FREE!

Why Join?
There are many challenges for all of us who live in Peter-McGill – you are not alone in your concerns! By coming together with our neighbours, those we may know already and those we have yet to meet, we can be catalysts for positive change on issues that matter, including:
- Green spaces and the environment
- Improving life for families
- Cultural and community activities

If you are attending any high school, college or university in the district (e.g. McGill University, Concordia University, LaSalle College), then you are an eligible to become a member! Membership will give you an opportunity to get to know the area where you study, discover new places, meet residents as well as local organisations and businesses, and contribute to positive change on issues that matter to you, including:
- Employment and volunteering
- Immigration
- Cultural and community activities
- Urban agriculture and sustainable development
- Urban planning

Get to know the Peter-McGill district and find out how your organisation or institution can better serve the community! Your organisation or institution may become a member if:
- The organisation/institution is located in the Peter-McGill district -OR- engages in social, educational or cultural activities in the Peter-McGill district.
- The organisation/institution adheres to the mission, vision and values of the Council.
Organisational/Institutional Benefits
- Receive in depth information about neighbourhood issues through our members only email list;
- Publish your news and events in the Peter-McGill Community Council’s monthly newsletter
- Receive invitations to consultations and surveys
- Vote during Annual General Meetings;
- Elect representatives to the Board of Directors;
- Run for the Board of Directors.
- Participate in Neighbourhood Strategic Planning
- Join the UMQ insurance program (non-profits only)
Collaborate with residents and organisations to help support the local economy. Your business or firm may become a member if:
- The business/firm is located in the Peter-McGill district -OR- engages in business activities in the Peter-McGill district.
- The business/firm adheres to the mission, vision and values of the Council.

To become a member click the button below to fill out our membership form. Please ensure you have the following documentation ready:
- For residents: Proof of Address
- For Students: Proof of Studies
- Student association, organization, institution or community group: You must include a small introduction of your organisation, such as a short summary of the services your organisation offers.
*Organisations, Businesses and Institutions must read our membership policy before submitting an application.
Once you’re finished, your application will be processed and approved by our board of directors.
