Families

Familles Centre-Ville was founded in 2013 through the commitment and determination of community partners to better serve families in downtown Montreal. Since then, we have been working together to provide essential services and family activities that were previously lacking in Peter-McGill.

Free activities for the whole family await you in the neighborhood! Check out our monthly calendar to make sure you don’t miss a thing.

OUR MISION

brings together families and community stakeholders

Familles Centre-Ville brings together families and community stakeholders to collaborate in innovative ways to create the best possible living environment for all children, youth, and families in downtown Montreal.
Our goal is to develop a family-centered approach that increases family participation in activities and services while reducing isolation within the community.

stroller respite

Free community service for Peter-McGill families

The stroller respite service offers parents a moment of respite while their children are safely cared for outside the family home for a pre-determined period of time.

The stroller respite service, although scheduled to take place outdoors, can be arranged to take place indoors in case of bad weather.

  • Tuesday to Friday (depending on availability). Reservations are made every two weeks, via an online form sent to registered families.
  • Registration must be completed with the responsible person. The parent should bring proof of residence and official identification showing the child's date of birth.
  • The duration of respite can vary according to the needs of the parents and the availability of the educator; regular respite generally lasts a maximum of 1 hour, while emergency or sporadic respite can potentially last longer, to be determined initially.

Family Packages

Family baskets include diapers, healthy snacks and other essential items for children ages 0 to 5 to grow up healthy.

  • These packages are distributed to residents of Peter-McGill to help parents and newcomers meet the needs of their children and families.
  • Since the number of available packages is limited, distribution is based on specific criteria.
  • A local community organization must refer you to receive the baskets.

If you are interested in receiving a package, please take a few minutes to fill out our form — we will contact you to confirm your eligibility.
