Employment Opportunity: Project Manager – Participatory Urban Planning

Our mission is to bring together the various different members of our downtown district and encourage them to work together in order to cultivate a sense of belonging and encourage active participation in neighbourhood life.

Our organisation is currently leading a community engagement project, as part of Centraide’s Collective Impact Project program, that aims to improve the quality of life

Primary responsibilities:

Mobilisation and Advocacy

  • Structure mobilisation and advocacy activities that influence elected officials and other decision-makers in establishing public or collective spaces
  • Strategically monitor upcoming public consultations and site developments
  • Grow the project’s coalition by targeting and approaching potential partners
  • Plan and facilitate meetings for the project’s steering committee

Management

  • Act as the project’s spokesperson and coordinate the implementation of our action plan
  • Plan the project’s timeline and follow-up on desired results and outcomes
  • Implement and coordinate evaluation and documentation procedures
  • Write reports
  • Lead the project’s team: mobilisation and communication officers

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience as a project manager or similar position
  • Ability to react quickly to current events and influence decision-makers and elected officials
  • Strong interest in participatory urban planning
  • Experience mobilising the public and facilitating activities that encourage collectivity and team work
  • Strong communication and outreach skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
  • Good command of spoken and written French and English
  • Ability to manage budgets
  • Autonomy and flexibility
  • Experience in event planning (asset)
  • Familiarity with the Peter-McGill neighbourhood (asset)
  • Project Management Professional Certificate (asset)

Working conditions

  • 35 hours per week, one-year renewable contract
  • Hourly wage between 20.89$ and 23.35$ based on the organisation’s salary scale.
  • Occasional availability on evenings and weekends
