A new mural is being created in Peter-McGill district this year. In a bid to curb vandalism and graffiti, the Royal Montreal Curling Club has commissioned a renowned artist to create a mural.
This project has been entrusted to Mateo, a French-born muralist who now makes Montreal his home. Inspired mainly by street art and collage, Mateo uses whatever materials best suit each work. His humanist approach is marked by a nostalgia for childhood as well as a romanticism that has largely disappeared from contemporary society.
If you would like to observe this work in progress, you can check out the wall of the RMCC at 1850 de Maisonneuve West. The official unveiling is scheduled for September.
