For the past few months, we at Afghan Women Centre have been reorienting our structure, as we have been shifting everything from our services to classes to adapt to our current online context. With this, we would like to remind you of the importance of sharing your valuable perspectives and engagement with us due to our like-minded values and objectives. As community organizations, we often encounter similar challenges which is why we believe it would be mutually beneficial to navigate this new field together. From our end, we have successfully launched four online courses as we have been learning what resources we can use to adapt.
Furthermore, we have had the opportunity of accumulating various new techniques, resources and contacts that have helped us which could be of use to our community partners. By collaborating together, we create a space for us to learn from each other’s organizations and help improve our structures. Ultimately, through referrals and exchanges of skills and information, we help sustain each other’s organizations.
With this, we are in search of two new board members to join our governing board and be directly involved and committed with our organization. For now, we are only meeting once every two month for a maximum duration of 30 minutes to an hour. We have outlined the task description for both board members below, however this description is flexible.
Board members task description:
- Be committed to upholding Afghan Women Centre’s mission and values
- Participate in Board meetings, every 2 months, with a maximum duration of 1 hour
- Occasionally participate in Afghan Women Centre’s activities
- Bring your own skills, experience and knowledge to the organization
- Work with committee to fulfill tasks relating to the Centre’s goals
- Take meeting minutes, however be mindful that most of the meetings are recorded.
