DESCRIPTION :
Working as part of the Peter McGill Community Council, the candidate will coordinate the youth and family committees (respectively referred to as theYouth Action Committee and Families Downtown).
Families Downtown and the Youth Action Committee bring together community organisations and institutions, targeting children and youth in the Peter-McGill neighbourhood (western area of the Ville-Marie borough), ages 0-12 and 12-30 respectively.
Tasks:
- Organize and facilitate committee meetings between partners (via Zoom until futher notice);
- Ensure logistical and administrative support for the delivery, implementation and evaluation of action plans;
- Support employees dedicated to each committee;
- Continue to mobilize community partners;
- Coordinate and ensure communication with and between partners;
- Act as the communication link between partners and funders, as well as provide budget monitoring;
- Lead selection committees and working groups.
Desired profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human or Social Sciences, or other relevant education/training
- At least 3 years of experience in a coordination position or other related position
- An excellent command of the French language, both written and spoken, is required. Good written and spoken communication skills in English are strongly desired
- Experience in planning and facilitating collective work
- Very good knowledge of the dynamics of working in a coalition and of the community sector
- Strong communication skills and an ability to identify the commonalities of diverging points of view
- An autonomous and adaptable person who works easily as part of a team
- Creative and dynamic individual
Assets:
- Knowledge of the challenges faced by families and youth in an urban setting
- Knowledge of the Peter-McGill district
Work conditions:
- 30 hours per week, for a one year contract starting on November 23rd, 2020
- 2-week training from November 23rd to December 4th, 2020
- Hourly rate between 22,24$ and 23,35$ according to the organization’s salary scale
- Remote work until further notice; possibility to go back to the office progressively depending on the evolution of public health measures
