Construction on the former Montreal Children’s Hospital site is underway – while the site will mostly be condos and a hotel, plans for the Peter-McGill Centre including a collective kitchen, are well on their way.

However, social housing units that were planned to be built have come to a standstill. The City of Montreal is short funds to cover the costs of housing, and attempts to ask the developer to help pay have so far been fruitless.

While Peter-McGill has ample social housing for the elderly, we have next to social or affordable housing available for families.

Negotiations are still ongoing and we are keeping our eye on the situation. In the meantime we would encourage you to post your thoughts and ideas in our My Peter-McGill Facebook discussion group, as well as contact your elected representatives to express your concern.
