Reception and Liaison Officer

About the VBM The Volunteer Bureau of Montreal (VBM) promotes volunteerism among Montrealers and supports its members by offering a range of services adapted to their needs, such as volunteer recruitment and orientation, a training program, a consulting service and a referral center. It also supports the Meals-on-Wheels and community meal services affiliated with its network. It acts as a liaison between a network of Meals-on-Wheels, the healthcare sector and its beneficiaries, as well as Montreal’s volunteer food services. Volunteerism plays an essential role in the well-being of society. Our actions aim to improve our society, one volunteer at a time. Summary of responsibilities: Reporting to the Executive Director, the Reception and Liaison Officer will be responsible for welcoming and providing orientation support to volunteers. This person provides liaison services for volunteer food services. They also support the team in the management and follow-up of volunteer offers. Front-desk ● Handle incoming calls and emails with courtesy and professionalism; ● Direct incoming calls and e-mails to the appropriate VBM department or redirect to an external resource; ● Provide information on the various services offered, by phone or email. Volunteer orientation ● Welcome and orient potential volunteers, in person or by phone, guiding them in their search for volunteer opportunities; ● Support volunteers in using our website. Support for volunteer offers management ● Support the volunteer services coordinator by managing volunteer offers and following up on matches between volunteers and organizations; ● Support the skills volunteering coordinator by managing group volunteering requests; ● Any other related tasks. Liaison between service requests and Meals-on-Wheels managers ● Respond to inquiries about Meals-on-Wheels services from healthcare professionals, clients or their families; ● Refer incoming needs to the right organizations so that they can provide meal services to those in need; ● Liaise with clients, their loved ones or social workers, in order to set up the service; ● Find referrals for vulnerable people in need; ● Generate various statistical and data reports for analysis and accountability. Required qualifications: ● College diploma (DEC) in social sciences, intervention or other relevant field; ● Experience in customer service; ● Excellent oral and written communication skills in both French and English; ● Experience in helping others (an asset); ● Computer skills and ability to manage a database; ● Knowledge of the Montreal community (an asset); ● Excellent knowledge of Google Suite. Additional information : o Salary scale starting at $21.07/hr.
